Only
one other school in Wolcott was named for
an individual, the Addin Lewis School which used to be on Shelton Ave. Addin Lewis was not from Wolcott, but from
Southington. However, in his will he
left $8500 to the Town of Wolcott to be used for school purposes. When the old
South School on Shelton Ave was renovated in 1949, it was renamed Lewis
School. Another child of Rachel [Beecher] Hall, Mary Hall, was married to
Reuben Lewis who was the older brother of Addin. Addin Lewis was thus the brother-in-law of
my 2nd cousin 6x removed.
